The last three hours of 24 were the best here's a detailed summaryof what happens with Tony and Michelle.
Hour 4-5AM
Tony approaches Michelle with the latest news about Richard. He and Michelle discuss telling Audrey about Jack wanting
to interrogate her brother, and Tony mutters his empathy with Audrey, saying, "Audrey's not gonna want to let Jack near her
brother." Michelle knows it's not up to Audrey, and goes on to ponder at how, ironically, every move Jack made "has been the
right one" even though Jack's decisions have caused the woman he loves so much pain. Tony responds by saying "not if
he wanted to be with her." He understands that either the mission or the love has to be betrayed -- there is no room for both
-- acknowledging that his decision in Season 3 to save Michelle instead of capturing Saunders was based on his choice of love
over duty. This gives Tony his moment. At last, he tells Michelle what she's been waiting to hear ever since she set foot
back in CTU and saw Tony standing there: he wants for them to be together again. But he shocks her by asking her to leave
the job with him. After all he's experienced, and all he's seen Jack and Audrey go through, the mission having destroyed their
love, Tony believes the only way he and Michelle can be happy and have a real life together is for them to leave CTU and start
over. Michelle is compelled, but lost. This job is the only thing she knows. She wonders what they will do without CTU. Tony
says he doesn't care, all he wants is to be with Michelle. The sudden closeness is welcome. Michelle is given a choice she's
been yearning to make, but is afraid to. Before she can respond, the phone rings and they have to get back to work.
Tony is leaving CTU to retrieve the suspects implicated by Richard Heller. Michelle is with him, briefing him on
preparations. He is all business, and is about to head out the door, when suddenly Michelle cries out for him to wait. Tony
stops and looks at her with expectant eyes. He silently encourages her. Suddenly it all spills out. She says she's ready to
leave everything to be with him, and can't stand to spend another day apart. Tony sweeps her up impatiently in a grateful
embrace, laying a desperate kiss on her. AT LAST. This kiss, this moment, the timing, is filled with the tension of threat,
of uncertainty. We almost don't want this moment now, terrified that the risks Tony will undertake going into the field with
Jack will tear them apart. As Tony breaks the kiss, he gives Michelle a long, lingering, tender gaze and turns to walk away
without a word. Just as he is about to walk through the door, Michelle calls to him. He turns. "Be careful," she whispers.
Tony's face breaks into that famous Almeida half-smile as he exits the building.
Tony is in the field with Jack, moving in on the suspects. Jack discovers the male suspect dead inside the apartment.
He warns Tony and Lee Castle that the woman is still at large. The female suspect in question is none other than Mandy. She
is suddenly upon Tony's partner Castle, and holds Castle at gunpoint, demanding that Tony drop his weapon and remove his two-way.
To make her point, she shoots Castle in the leg with frightening coldness. Ever the altruist, Tony offers to take Castle's
place as her hostage because he is injured. Once again, we see how selfless and devoted Tony is. Tony drops his weapon and
falls to his knees, completely at Mandy's mercy. After ordering Castle to cuff Tony, she coldly shoots Castle dead, without
pause. She hasn't broken a sweat. Tony has. We see here how Jack and Tony differ. Jack would have, without hesitation, sacrificed
Castle in order to secure Mandy. He is as devoted to mission as Mandy. Tony, however, thought about Castle, his loyalty and
sympathy overriding anything else. He has sacrificed himself. Mandy takes him at gunpoint and now has him hostage. Michelle
is in the same horrifying position as Tony last season, charged with trying to save her love from capture and certain death.
What will she sacrifice for him?
Next hour 5-6AM
Tony kneels - handcuffed, gagged and shirtless! - on the floor of the apartment where Mandy is holding him hostage. His
body looks incredibly fit and incredibly strong, but all the physical strength in the world is useless against Mandy and her
gun. Mandy is looking at files on her laptop. A quick shot of her screen tells us that she is reading up on how Tony was sent
to prison for compromising national security to save Michelle's life. Mandy receives a call from Marwan. Tony listens intently,
not wanting to miss a single shred of evidence that could help him escape or help CTU catch Marwan. When Mandy hangs up, she
approaches Tony and lays out the facts for him: CTU is close to finding them. Two years ago, he helped a suspect escape and
put Michelle's life ahead of national security. Mandy wonders aloud if Michelle will do the same for Tony. Tony simply stares
back at Mandy, his gaze unflinching. Outwardly, he shows no emotion. Inwardly, he is immediately concerned that Mandy will
find a way to compromise Michelle. Mandy calls Michelle's cell phone and sends her a digital image with her camera phone
to prove she is holding Tony hostage. Mandy orders Michelle to help her escape or Tony dies. As Tony listens to Mandy's side
of the conversation, his face is flooded with anger at Mandy for putting Michelle in this position mixed with a strange relief
that Michelle seems to be complying - in a way, he can't help but desire this confirmation that Michelle loves him. After
Mandy fakes her and Tony's deaths with the exploding car, she realizes that CTU was not fooled. She sees that agents are on
their way back into the apartment complex, which means she and Tony have to leave. She forces Tony to put on her dead neighbour's
clothes. As she leads him out of the room, Tony sees his chance - the only way he can lead Jack to his location. He grinds
his foot hard into shards of broken glass on the carpet, only the slightest grimace on his face but he has to bei in
excruciating pain. He leaves a trail of bloody footprints behind as he and Mandy exit the apartment, just waiting for Jack
to find them.
As Mandy leads Tony through the parkade of the apartment complex, Tony sees an opportunity to bust out some Krav-Maga
hand-to-hand combat action - without the use of his hands! Way to go Tony! He body slams Mandy into the side of an SUV,
then kicks her gun out of her hand using his martial arts skillz. He continues to body slam and headbutt Mandy, and it almost
looks as if he might succeed in escpaing from her, but his valiant efforts are just not quite enough. Without the use of his
hands, Mandy has an unfair advantage. Mandy elbows Tony in the face and grabs the gun from the ground, sticking is right in
his face. Tony looks defeated, having used every ounce of his strength to try and escape. Just then, Jack busts out from the
other side of the parkade. Jack screams at Mandy to drop her gun. Mandy makes it clear that she will shoot Tony if Jack doesn't
back off. Without an ounce of fear or regret, Tony tells Jack to "do what he has to do." As Jack and Mandy face off, Curtis
sneaks around the corner. At the right moment, Jack yells for Tony to make his move. As Tony ducks away, Curtis punches Mandy
from behind, knocking her unconscious. After ensuring Mandy has been secured, Jack rushes to Tony's side and pulls him off
the floor. Jack takes Tony's face in his hands and asks him if he is OK. "Yeah," Tony responds, as a little half-smile of
relief passes across Jack's face. Immediately, Tony asks if Michelle knows he's alive. It's obvious that his love is the only
thing on his mind.
Michelle sits in her car in the rain, crying and destroyed, as she imagines the rest of her life without Tony. Suddenly
the phone rings. Though she doesn't want to answer, she does. It's Bill Buchanan, who tells her that Tony is alive and is
holding for her. When she hears Tony's voice, she really believes he is alive, and she is overcome with sobbing relief. Tony
tenderly explains how Mandy tricked CTU into believing he was dead, but how Jack figured out what she was up to and saved
his life. Michelle is overcome with emotion. Tony says he'll be back at CTU in a few minutes, and tells her he loves her.
Michelle tells him she loves him in return, proving that their love is forever.
Hour 6-7AM Tony walks into CTU in the aftermath of the whole Mandy debacle. Michelle immediately drops what she is
doing to greet him. They embrace ferociously and kiss passionately. Michelle tells Tony that she didn't realize how much she
loved him until she thought she'd lost him. Then, she hesitates. She worries how her decision not to go along with Mandy's
terrorist demands in order to save Tony the way that Tony did for her with Stephen Saunders will affect their relationship.
Tony takes her face tenderly in his hands and assures her that she did what she had to do, and now that it's over, they can
be together. Tony knows that Michelle's decision could never mean her love for him was less than his for her, only that neither
of them could live with the consequences of such a decision a second time. They embrace and kiss again. Happy ending
at last.
Tony and Jack are chilling out in the aftermath of the mission in the CTU locker room area where everyone changes
clothes. Tony says he thinks it's crap that Jack has to take the fall for the extraction at the Chinese Consulate earlier
in the night. Jst then, Jack receives a phonecall from Palmer. Palmer alerts Jack that the Secret Service agent sent to take
him into custody has covert orders to kill him to prevent him from ever implicating the US in the attack on the Consulate.
Tony listens curiously to Jack's side of the conversation. When Jack hangs up, he looks at Tony intensely. Jack knows he can
trust his brother in arms to help him. As this is going down" CTU alarm beeps mercilessly, Tony phones BIll Buchanan. He
claims that Jack knocked him out trying to escape.
Tony spins a tale to Buchanan and the Secret Service agent sent
to kill Jack about how Jack cold cocked him and escaped into the parkade. Secret Service dude plays right into Tony's hands,
believing Tony completely. Secret Service dude rushes out to follow Jack. Tony demands to come along. Buchanan orders the
SSD to be accompanied by Tony. As they race through the parkade, Jack begins shooting. Anyone who knows anything about anything
knows that Jack would NEVER open fire on Tony if there weren't some angle. The SSD shoots back. Tony jumps on SSD, putting
on the show of his life, demanding him to stop. SSD slams Tony against the wall by the throat. Tony tells him it's over and
that he's going back to bring Jack out. He tells SSD if he wants to stop him, he can shoot him in the back. Tony approaches
Jack, who is laying still on the pavement. He takes Jack's pulse. Tony announces that Jack is dead. SSD checks Jack's
pulse for himself, and doesn't find one. Tony then attacks SSD with such verocity that it's almost as if part of him believes
Jack really IS dead. Bill Buchanan busts in with Michelle and Chloe, and orders SSD out of the room. As Buchanan follows SSD,
Tony, Michelle and Chloe spring into action. Tony injects Jack with epinepherin and begins pumping Jack's chest. Jack is unresponsive.
Tony, desperate now, screams at Jack to come back. Still, nothing. Michelle calls out his name in a wavering, frightened voice
as Tony screams at Jack one last time to come back. At last, Jack coughs to life.
Tony and Michelle speed away from CTU LA in a gold SUV. As soon as they clear surveillance, Jack springs out of
the back seat. Tony knows that as soon as Jack gets out of the car, he would likely never see him again. He will have to do
more than pretend Jack is dead ... he will have to believe it. Now Tony and Michelle are 2 of only 4 people who know that Jack
Bauer is alive, and are charged with protecting the biggest secret of Jack Bauer's life. Tony gives Jack his fake passport
and Michelle gives him a scrambled cell phone. Tony stops the car in a deserted trainyard. Jack thanks Tony and Michelle for
helping save him, then exits the car. As he starts to walk away, Tony calls out to Jack. "Be careful," Tony warns him. "Yeah.
You too," Jack replies heavily, and with a meaningful handshake, the brotherhood. As the sun slowly crests above the horizon,
neither Jack nor Tony know if they will ever meet again.
What a season! It was so awesome!
In this area I'll talk about my all-time favorite episode.
